Let us examine the Law of the Man Child. For New Testament grace fulfills Old Testament law. Jesus said, “I came not to do away with the law but to fulfill it.” In the beginning, God said, “Let us make man in our own image after our likeness and let him have dominion.” (Genesis 1:26.) God’s will and desire has always been to have children like unto himself; given a free will, but willing to submit that free will back to God in favor of His will, in all choices.Adam was the first man child, but he disobeyed God in the garden and was kicked out. The nation of Israel, starting with Abraham, was a type and shadow, but also sinned against God. Jesus Christ, as a man who knew no sin, but became sin for us on the tree, fulfilled God’s desire to have children like unto himself. Jesus was the pattern son, the corner stone, the example we all are to come to while alive; yet Isaiah 66:8 makes it clear there is also a corporate fulfillment. Verses 7-8 say “Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? Shall the earth be made to bring forthin one day? or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought her children.” The scripture says first the natural, then the spiritual. The nation of Israel in the natural was born in a day, which is a type of man child, but there will be birthed a spiritual man child in which Jesus Christ will rule the nations with a rod of iron initially during the tribulation period. This is the high calling of God that Paul was pressing in to obtain in Philippians 3:14-15. “I press towards the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore as be perfect, be thus minded…”
