I heard a message this morning from a pastor friend of mine that caused me to think. He was speaking on operating in the area of Grace on your life that causes you to excel. I began to think about how practically this looks and operates in a persons life. I have concluded the following (Not an exhaustive list by any means)

1. Make sure you surround yourself with people that aren’t needy that speak into you. If the major voices are disconnected from kingdom reality and are people that you do not have a lot of confidence in spiritually, then why listen to them when they tell you about yourself and your call. (They are sincere but do not have momentum in their own lives)

2. Watch for the Peters in your life. Peter said to Jesus, “you aren’t going to the cross”. Sometimes people love you so much, that they love your current role and function because it “seems right” and they benefit a lot because your in that role. Without discernment, they will “encourage” you to stay put and your life will continue to pass by. (They are sincere but lack personal discernment and wisdom to see the big kingdom picture)

3. What is the deep hidden dream that you have on the inside that supersedes all other dreams and visions? What ingredients were instilled as a child, teenager, and then adult life that has prepared you for that dream to come to pass. God orders your steps even as a child to prepare you for that “specific assignment”?

4. What relationships are in your life that are kingdom initiated that you do not have to work hard for and are organic and natural? What role do those people play in your life? What function do they hold in the body of christ? If you find yourself connected effortlessly with Pastors then maybe pastoral is a grace on your life. If you find yourself with business owners naturally, then perhaps business owner is the grace.

5. Have a proper assessment on that grace. Be careful not to be deceived in thinking you are graced for everything. You might be able to function in roles, however, wherever you produce the most fruit that remains and multiplies is a good indicator of the grace on your life.

6. God will open the door for what you are graced to do. It will be initiated by him. The initiation of it is effortless but to stretch toward it requires you to first proclaim it and acknowledge it regardless what people think or say. Secondly, it requires you to release and leave somethings behind, and thirdly, requires a tremendous risk.

7. God will speak to you and confirm over and over by several voices confirming His grace on your life and it will cause a butterfly feeling mixed with excitement and anticipation of the unknown. Thats when you must begin releasing the functions you currently have and be sure not to squat in an area you are not graced for and somebody is. It is necessary for promotion in the kingdom because if you don’t move into the next level of your grace then somebody else is being held back in theirs.

In todays times, enormous pressure is placed on churches to deliver quality “customer service” in the name of excellence. In a seeker sensitive church environment “customer service” is the number one objective. However, really what people are looking for is different than perhaps they even know. Excellence is a requirement in the Kingdom but not in place of the supernatural. Lives transformed, healings, and restorations are all evidences of the Kingdom being present. “Customer Service” is a vehicle to serve the people that are being transformed and restored.

We as a church need to mobilize the people to become sensitive to the supernatural because in the end “customer service” demands and expectations changes in this serve me world we live in, however, a life transformed and restored to God will be ignited to bring the best “service” thats out there. Transformed people transform systems and society.

I had an incredible opportunity right after I finished high school to sit under the leadership of a highly respected and award winning session leader and music producer. He taught me everything I know today about music, studio work as well as taught me invaluable leadership skills.
One day we began a session and he told me to pay attention to something. He handed out the charts and explained briefly the groove of the song then looked at the musicians and gave directions by simply stating “Hey create something right there”. We walked into the control room afterwards where the musicians couldn’t hear and he explained something to me.
He said “I could have easily told them exactly what to play note for note and that’s what they would have done and it would probably turn a good album. The reason I don’t is because I know what is assembled in there and trust that the moment I release their creativity it will turn an award winning album. If I start trying to control what they bring they will shut down and only give the bare minimum of what they’re capable of, but if I allow them to flow with one another it releases greatness that no one can manufacture. My job is to facilitate and assemble them together”.

From that conversation I viewed that whole day with new eyes as I watched those musicians create with confidence and trust in one another and in their producer. A principle in my life that was gleaned that day is my ability to handle greatness that is entrusted to my care. The people God trusts us to lead deserve a leader that does not struggle with insecurity that manifests through creating a controlling atmosphere where no one can breathe, but instead a secure leader that creates a place of safety to dream big and run with passion. The difference between producing something good and something award winning is the leaders ability to assemble the right pieces then release them to do what they are called to do without trying to manipulate and control them. The release is the key. Even if the people assembled are perfect the grip of the leader determines their ability regardless of their capabilities.

As a young man, Joseph was highly favored of his father. So favored that his father made him a coat of many colors. This is an example to us just how much our heavenly father loves us. The coat of many colors represents not just one color or one source. Favor comes in many colors, avenues, and sources. God has so many promises and privileges woven together for us that it would blow our minds if we knew just how favored we are. Often times we think that our promise can come only in the ways we can see or anticipate. I believe that God has so many sources and avenues that we should not limit his favor into a particular venue that fits our preferred way (color).

Can you trust today that God is weaving together a coat for you and your family that consists of so many varieties and diversities, so many avenues and people, so many doorways and portals? Can you anticipate He himself is orchestrating a beautiful coat that when you see it on you, what will be visible to see is that only He could have put it together? He has the master plan and you get to wear it, experience it, and enjoy it, just because He loves you.

Now that’s FAVOR!!!

Here is a window into the mind of the enemy, He doesn’t get so angry at all the good works we do, but he gets irate when you come in right relationship as a son. That ticks him off.

This season will raise up many believers that begin to proclaim their heavenly identity on earth, the world will call it pride or blasphemy but in the heart of true son, they will know they cannot do anything of themselves, (John chapter 5), that is true humility, fully surrendered and yielded to the Father.

In John chapter 9, Jesus sees a blind man from birth. The disciples asked who sinned the blind man or his parents. Jesus said neither, it was for the works of God to be made manifest. He then performs the miracle giving him sight. Immediately it caused quite a disturbance because the miracle Jesus performed demanded an explaination from and for the people groups that were represented. Here is the challenge, there was no explaination that could be given that would satisfy the bystanders. Because the only explaination given was only implied by the actions of Jesus and that was ”Just because He wanted too”.

Immediately, when I read this passage of scripture, the Lord reminded me of some disappointments we have experienced over the past few years. Disappointments such as a strong man of faith in our church that passed away, a baby dying, and others that really have no explaination.

He then asked me, can you believe me for good things to happen in your life that you cannot explain. If you dwell on losses, disappointments, or failures that you cannot explain it will keep you in a place of questioning that could lead to unbelief.

So anticipate the wonderful unexplainable events that are going to occur in your life just because He wants to. There are so many “just because He wants tos” waiting for you. It is His pleasure to give you the things of the Kingdom, if we seek first The Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all the unexplainable things will chase us down. Why? Just because He wants to…….

Often I notice how many people can identify when a new season is beginning but fail to realize when a season is over.

De 34:5 ¶ So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
9 ¶ And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.
10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
11 In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,
12 And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

I want to encourage everyone to identify those areas in our lives that we think gives us identity. Things, positions, territories, and even principles we still cling to might have had life in the last season but could very well need to be declared over, so we can embrace the next season with a fresh new perspective.

Moses gave us an example, his season was declared over although he still had strength and vision. This is contrary to most today, typically we are the last to know when a season is over and its only after the life is completely gone, vision is nonexistant, and it has created a weariness to all that are apart of it. Often those that are emotionally attached to it have the most difficult time declaring it’s end, even though those around already know it before we do. We can change this paradigm and the people we influence are depending on it.

As 2009 closes out let’s declare the end of the some things that God has ordained over and the beginning of next season in 2010 with life, vision and strength.

Recently a good friend of mine shared a book he read. After reading it, I would like to share the bullets of wisdom that are so rich in this book. Attacking pride will avoid the heart from becoming hardened in relationships.

1. The toughest part of apologizing is realizing and admitting that you were wrong

2. At the core of most problems is a truth you don’t want to face

3. It begins with surrender and ends with integrity

4. One minute of being honest with yourself is worth more than days, months, or years of self-deception

5. The longer you wait to apologize, the sooner your weakness is perceived as wickedness

6. Honesty is telling the truth to ourselves and others, and integrity is living that truth

7. The legacy you leave is the one you live

8. Without a change in behavior, just saying “i’m sorry” is not enough

9. Apologize not for the outcome but because you know you were wrong and it’s the right thing to do

10. The best way to apologize to someone you have harmed is to tell them you made a mistake, you feel badly about it, and how you will change your behavior

11. People with humility don’t think less of themselves, they just think about themselves less

12. When you honestly express your feelings with someone you care about you show respect for yourself and the relationship

These humble approaches to life will help build and sustain long healthy relationships.
